YOUR RESPONSIBLE STAY

  • Decide not to use the air conditioning, or avoid cooling or heating the room more than necessary, setting the temperature only a few degrees above or below the outdoor temperature. In accordance with Italian Presidential Decree 74/2013, the air-conditioning temperature in the hotel's climate-controlled spaces cannot be set below 26°C, with a tolerance of –2°C.
  • If you use the heating or air conditioning, open the windows only when necessary.
  • Unplug devices and chargers once charging is complete.
  • Where possible, use natural light.
  • Switch off the light and close the shutters at night or before leaving the room.
  • In the room the minibar is switched off and empty; please ask at reception if you would like it switched on and stocked.
  • Thank you for using the hairdryer as little as possible.
  • Reuse your towels and forgo the change of bed linen.
  • Do not leave the taps running while brushing your teeth or shaving.
  • At breakfast, avoid wasting food: when serving yourself at the buffet, choose small portions and help yourself again as often as you like.
  • Choosing to take a short shower can save many litres of water.

GEOTHERMAL ENERGY & GOOD PRACTICE
FOR A LOWER ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

The first thermal hotel in the area to install a Calorimeter, AbanoRitz uses the thermal gradient of its thermal-water wells to heat all its spaces. The use of GEOTHERMAL ENERGY to heat the building enables us to keep the hotel’s environmental impact to a minimum and to eliminate CO₂ emissions and particulate matter (PM1/PM10), which are specifically linked to certain conditions in those forced to breathe them when using normal domestic heating. It has been calculated that on average over the last ten years the hotel, thanks to geothermal energy, has avoided releasing about 420 tonnes per year of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere compared with the use of a methane boiler (which is itself particularly efficient in terms of heat dispersion and CO₂ production), or, put differently, has avoided consuming about 180 tonnes of oil (TOE/year).

At AbanoRitz we pay great attention to the separation and disposal of different types of waste (correct sorting takes place in all areas of the hotel) and to the choice of professional cleaning products, all dispensed through calibrated dosing units for maximum yield with minimum pollution. Every day we are committed to recycling paper materials wherever possible and, except for the antique chandeliers, around 70% of our light bulbs are low-energy. In the AbanoRitz car park there are charging stations for electric cars.

CITY OF ABANO TERME – ENVIRONMENTAL DECLARATION

The environmental declaration of the Municipality of Abano Terme – one of the 125 Italian municipalities EMAS-registered and validated by an external body – attests to the environmental performance achieved over the last 3 years and the future improvement targets; essentially: energy and raw-material savings, reducing the risk of environmental incidents and improving environmental performance (e.g.: the urban plan removes 80 hectares from buildable land, improves alternative/cycling mobility, works towards greater water protection, the phasing-out of plant-protection products and the increase of public green spaces…).

Since 2000, the Municipality of Abano Terme has maintained an environmental management system in compliance with the ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 standards for the protection of the environment, the accessibility and the unique character of the area. The aim is for the city of Abano Terme to be increasingly recognised as a city of wellbeing, thanks to the competitive and image advantages stemming from the close relationship between environmental quality and thermal tourism, the true cornerstone of the city’s economic and social life.
